Thailand Approves 35% Excise Tax on Fully Imported Electric Vehicles

On 3 November, Thailand’s Cabinet approved an increase in excise tax on fully imported battery-electric vehicles from 10% to 35%, effective January 2027. The measure is intended to encourage manufacturers to establish local production and strengthen Thailand’s automotive supply chain. The new tax rate represents a 25-percentage-point increase; no individual vehicle-price adjustment was announced.
